Pros and Cons of the Air Innovations MH-505

In this section of our Air Innovations MH-505-BLUE humidifier review, we give you what previous buyers have to say about their unit.

Noise Level

As advertised, the Air Innovations MH-505-BLUE is an ultrasonic humidifier. Theoretically, it should be quieter than evaporative types. So the question is, is it really?

The general feedback is that yes, it is quiet. You will hear a gurgling sound or noise from time to time, which is caused by the exchange between water and air bubbles.

Note that based on feedback from several previous buyers, this humidifier ay get noisier as time goes by.

Performance

It does an amazing job keping moisture in the air especially in winter when the air tends to be dry. Although it’s advertised to be able to humidify a large room, several previous buyers say it’s best used in small to medium-sized living spaces.

There have been several reports of the Air Innovations MH-505-BLUE helping improve sinus problems.

It’s also very simple to use and easy to clean.

Limitations

  • This humidifier is the “bottom-fill” type, which can be quite an inconvenience to some who prefers a top-fill tank.
  • It doesn’t have a separate compartment for essential oils.
  • This humidifier releases only cool mist.
  • It doesn’t have a memory feature. Meaning, when you turn it off, it returns to the default settings, so you’ll have to punch in your preferences when you put it back on.
  • There have been reports of the filter getting “icky” fast – it grows mildew quickly. That said, you’ll have to do frequent cleaning to ensure that this humidifier is always clean.
  • Some people say that they don’t think their unit works because on the display, it always has the same current humidity level.
